Vardy, Pereira, Evans: Leicester City injury update ahead of Newcastle

Leicester City are set to face Newcastle United on Friday, as the Premier League action resumes. And ahead of the match here are the latest injury news for the Foxes. Jonny Evans is fit to play on Friday after a scan revealed he had not suffered a tear in his foot. The Leicester defender, who has scored twice in his last three games, was seen hobbling after his equaliser earned a point at Southampton last Friday. Head coach Brendan Rodgers said after that match at St Mary’s that Evans had been playing through pain in his plantar fascia, a ligament that connects the heel with the front of the foot. “Jonny will be fine,” Leicester boss said in his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with Newcastle. “He had a scan on it the other day, and it's come through and there’s no tear, which is good news. “It was something that was provoked during the game. There was a little bit of soreness afterwards, but he should be fine for Friday.” Jamie Vardy also sustained a knock during the game, prompting his ankle to swell up, but he has also been declared fit. Ricardo Pereira is also in contention to feature after a few games on the bench. The Portuguese’s game-time has been managed since his return from a 10-month lay-off earlier this year. Elsewhere, Harvey Barnes, James Justin, and Wes Morgan are all sidelined for the Friday's match. “Everyone is virtually okay from the last game,” said Rodgers. “We’ve had a couple of niggles, Jamie had a challenge on him that made his ankle swell up. He’ll be fine. “Wes is not available for Friday. He’s still working with the rehab team and getting back to some level of fitness. “Ricky has continued to work and train and I’m pretty sure he will play a part on Friday. We changed the balance of the team for those games (bringing in Luke Thomas), but each game is different. Ricky's had a few more weeks of training and looks really good.” Source- LeicestershireLive Join us on Telegram!/ Follow us on Twitter!
