Valencia ready to re-sign Joao Cancelo depite Pep Guardiola's will to keep the right-back

Valencia are ready to re-sign Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo during the January transfer window. Cancelo has joined the Citizens five months ago from Juventus with a £58 million deal. But the 25-year-old found it hard to play there, missing the first-choice role of the right-back to Kyle Walker. He has made just 6 Premier League appearances since arriving Etihad. According to Marca, Valencia will a bid for their former player in order to bring him back to the Mestalla, where he spent three season between 2015 and 2018. Recent reports claimed, that Valencia owner Peter Lim has already been in talks with the defender's agent Jorge Mendes. However, they would face Pep Guardiola's reluctance, as the Blues boss have no intention to let Cancelo leave. He said: "I hope, and I think, he won't leave." The club would look to sign the Portugal international on loan, with a view to a permanent move. However, Cancelo is under threat to be out of the Portugal international squad, if Valencia make a bid for his services.
