United's goalkeeper target explains the reason he didn't choose them

Manchester United's goalkeeper target Zion Suzuki has explained the reason he signed for STVV, despite interest from Old Trafford.

The Japanese keeper rejected the England side when he was approached by the Red Devils upon his departure from Urawa Red Diamonds. After moving to the Belgium club, Suzuki explained via GOAL

“Manchester United have acquired [Andre] Onana. It's important for me to participate in matches, and I think it is also important to play on the world stage. I want to make the most of what I have learned here and do my best", said the 20-year-old, who felt he'd be sidelined at Old Trafford.

Yet, Suzuki admitted that he would have made the move to United in a heartbeat if he didn't consider the factor of having sufficient game time for development. The decision was not an easy one and he has arrived at it after "much thought".

"There are still no Japanese who are active as goalkeepers in the Premier League, so I want to be one of the first players to do so. I want to keep moving forward step by step," concluded the young shot-stopper.
