How United & Chelsea could line up with Lampard in charge

Manchester United begin Premier League 2019/20 campaign by hosting Chelsea on Sunday, 11 August. It’s the first time they’ve met the Blues at Old Trafford on an opening day since the 2004/05 season. Both teams will look very different from last season. Reminder: Manchester United finished sixth in the Premier League and failed to qualify for Champions League. Chelsea, meanwhile, the finished season in the third place, qualified for the Champions League, won the Europa League title and will play in the UEFA Super Cup against Liverpool. Manchester United:  David De Gea’s future remains up in the air, but reports claim United chiefs are set to make a last-ditch contract offer to him. Crystal Palace starlet Aaron Wan-Bissaka has completed a big-money move to United. Further reports have claimed United will have to break their transfer record to land England star Harry Maguire. Jesse Lingard, who is reportedly set to be offered a new contract by Solskjaer, could operate on the right with new signing Daniel James on the opposite wing and Marcus Rashford through the middle. Chelsea: New Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has hinted N’Golo Kante is set for a central role in his Chelsea system. The Chelsea legend has returned to the London club as its new head coach on a three-year deal. With Chelsea’s transfer ban, their defence could look very similar to last season. Kepa is certain to keep his place in goal. Fikayo Tomori, who played almost every minute of Derby’s Championship campaign last term, could rival Luiz and Rudiger for a regular starting spot. New boy Christian Pulisic will have to fill the void left by Eden Hazard, who joined Real Madrid in an initial £88million deal, which could rise to £150million.  Tammy Abraham could finally get a chance to lead the line for Chelsea after loan spells with Bristol City, Swansea and Aston Villa.
