Arsenal will not sign any new players on permanent deals before the January transfer window shuts, manager Unai Emery has revealed.
Instead, the club are prioritising loan deals, with both Barcelona’s Denis Suárez and Sevilla’s Éver Banega targets.
“We cannot make payments to sign players,” Emery said. “Only we can loan players."
Emery also has spoken out on Denis Suarez transfer speculation. The Barcelona star has been linked with a move to Emirates.
“I don’t know about his situation. But we can only sign players on loan,” Emery said.
“I know the club is working to find players who can help us, with this condition. I know these players and they are very good players. But I cannot sign more.”
Emery also appeared to acknowledge that Aaron Ramsey is destined to leave the club.
“I say to him every day that we need his performance for us. And I was very happy with him in the last match. He asked in Blackpool to play, he said: ‘Coach, I want to play’. His future is for him, his family and his agent. But every day in training he is working very well. And I want his focus to be on us, and to be on West Ham on Saturday. I respect his decision a lot.”
