Unai Emery: New manager, Same story

Every Arsenal fan have had a love-hate affair with Arsene Wenger in latter years.  The club’s veteran Arsene Wenger, outdistanced George Allison (a record of 13 years) by serving Arsenal for 22 years, facing mostly the nonfeasance in recent years. Standing 6th on the points table last season, Arsenal failed to qualify for the Champions League as Wenger finally hung up his “zipping coat” and finished his last chapter of the book called “ARSENAL.” On 23rd may 2018, the club announced Unai Emery as the new head coach for their upcoming season and competition. The former PSG Manager, Unai Emery was called to do some “repairing” in the team and to make the best out its squad. As they say “fate doesn’t care about your plans”, Unai Emery’s plan to win his first debut match with Arsenal went to trash can as he suffered a defeat against Manchester City. Arsenal fans living their “after Arsene Wenger” life has high hopes upon the Frenchman’s successor  hoping he would do the undone in their current campaign. The Spaniard wanting to get Arsenal back into Champions League, he has been fully engrossed in analyzing the Premier League in order to ensure themselves that they are driving on the right track. Backpeddling to the time when Emery was announced as Arsenal's new coach he gave a thumbnail sketch of his idea saying- “I like to win the ball as quickly as possible. It’s about two things: possession and pressing. We want to play looking forwards.” All limelights on him and his team Arsenal, the best highlight being Arsenal's breakneck come back again Tottenham Spurs from 1-2 in the first half to 4-2 after the final whistle. But there were certain matches that lacked their winning mentality and morale. The worst game being Liverpool versus Arsenal, where Arsenal didn’t show any will to win the ball back or even press high. As a result they lost the match 5-1 against Liverpool. Overall we can say  Arsenal have had a bowl full of good and ugly performances, which is why the fans are furious to know what exactly Unai Emery is trying to gain this season. During his reign, Arsenal won 11 games in a row, their best run of form after 2007. They, then extended the unbeaten run to 22 in all competitions finally losing to Southampton in December. News segment: Arsenal will face Southampton on Sunday in the league match and Unai. The good news for the Gunners is that Laurent Koscielny is fit and might start in playing 11 as Arsenal will be all-out to bring a point or 3 to North London. A win against them will assure Arsenal to sit 4th placed on the points table if Manchester United gets bottled against Liverpool. The fans are surprised as Emery, due to his “Tactical Reasons” is constantly dropping Mesut Ozil out of it squad, facing questions from the media and fans. With the exit of Arsene Wenger, the World Cup winner Mesut Ozil signed a contract extension on February 2018, hoping he’d play a crucial role at Emirates Stadium. But Unai had other plans. He often omits Ozil out of the squad or name him amongst the substitutes. It will be interesting to see who’s going to get his name in the team sheet on Sunday as Arsenal will be facing Southampton for the fight for top 4 spot. Unai Emery’s Arsenal, dream of staying in the top 4 looks realistic as they aim to qualify for the Champions League next season. Source
