Unai Emery explains Mesut Ozil’s shock absence vs Spurs

There had been rumours ahead of kick-off that Ozil could be missing again due to back problem which saw him miss four games before Sunday’s defeat at Southampton. When asked why Ozil was not involved, Emery stated: "It's a tactical decision." Arsenal's head coach was then asked if that meant Ozil wasn't good enough to get into his squad, to which he reiterated sternly: "It's tactical." Writing in his programme notes for Wednesday night's game, Emery spelt out how he believed Arsenal had to play to stop Spurs. "My focus is to prepare the match tactically and physically against them. My first priority is how we can attack against them with their positioning on the pitch. "When they have the ball, they're very organised with good movement. They have attacking players playing very well now and we need to put in a big performance." Arsenal had a shock 0-2 defeat against Tottenham in Carabao Cup match.
