How does the Europa Conference League knockout round play-off draw work?
- There will be 16 teams competing in the Europa Conference League knockout round play-offs.
- Two seeding pots will be formed: each of them containing eight names from runners-up from the Europa Conference League group stage and the eight third-placed teams from the UEFA Europa League group stage.
- Matches are held in two legs, with the seeded teams playing their second legs at home. In the event of a tie after 180 minutes, extra time will be played, regardless of the number of goals each team has scored at home and away. If the teams remain level after the additional 30 minutes, the tie will be decided by a penalty shoot-out.
- The winners of the eight play-off ties advance to the Europa Conference League round of 16, where they join the eight group winners.
- No side is allowed to face another team from the same national association.
When will the Europa Conference League knockout round play-offs start?
The first leg matches are set for 15 February, followed by the second legs one week later on 22 February.
What happens next?
The victorious teams from the eight matchups will advance to the round of 16, where they will be joined by the eight group winners from the Europa Conference League. The draw for the next round is slated for 23 February. Unfortunately, the teams that are defeated will be eliminated from the European competition for the 2023/24 season.
