Tyon Fury’s father John named his son after Mike Tyson in 1988. Back then it seemed ludicrous to think the young
‘Gypsy King’ would ever follow in the footsteps of ‘Iron Mike’.
Father John Fury explained on ITV’s documentary ‘Tyson Fury – The Gypsy King’: “
He was just a pound in weight. The doctor said he probably won’t make it, he’s very weak. I said to all the doctors, he won’t be small, I said he’ll be nearly 7ft tall, 20 stone, the next heavyweight champion of the world.”
Fury is set to fight Deontay Wilder on February 22 in Las Vegas. The rematch will take place after their first clash ended with a controversial draw.
