The two players Manchester City target for the January transfer window

Manchester City have targeted Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly and Villareal starlet Pau Torres for the January transfer window. Koulibaly is considered to be as one of the best central-defenders in the world. He has been linked with the move to Etihad for years, though Manchester United were also interested in the player. Torres, 22, is another target of the Citizens. He is enjoying a great season at his hometown club. The Premier League champions have started a hard season, standing 14 points behind the leaders Liverpool. Though the Blues are strong in attack, their defensive side struggles a lot. The lack options on defenders as well as Aymeric Laporte's and John Stones' long-term injuries, led the club boss Pep Guardiola rely on the support of Vincent Kompany, midfielder Fernandinho and Rodri, along with the teenage duo Eric Garcia and Taylor Harwood-Bellis. Now City are looking to add more defenders to the squad during the January transfer window. However, Guardiola insists he is not going to sign new players. He said: "I like my squad, we have problems with injuries, but if we have the chance to like it happened with Laporte, there was a clause and we knew that the potential of this player because he had played for many years in big stages against incredible strikers and we were convinced he could handle it immediately, and for a long time we could do it but that is not the position, that I think the market does not give us that opportunity and I don’t want to do that."
