The 27-year-old Tottenham Hotspur star Kieran Trippier put England ahead against Croatia in the semi-final, but it wasn't enough as Gareth Southgate's young side lost 2-1.
Kieran Trippier has watched his goal against Croatia over and over just like many other England fans.
“I’ve looked back at a couple of the games, not just the Croatia one,” he said ahead of the Nations League game against Spain.
“Obviously, it was frustrating to get knocked out in the semi-finals but we’re proud of ourselves as a team and how far we went in the World Cup.
“I analyse my games for club and country. I look at what I could have done better and learn. There are some mistakes I make in the games but I learn and put them right the next time in a big game.
“I’m not going to lie, I’ve watched the goal back about 100 times. I enjoyed that moment — but even now, it still hurts that we got beaten.”
However, his goal was not his favourite moment.
“I think it was the Colombia game and the way, as a team, we dealt with everything,” Trippier added.
“They tried to play every trick in the book against us — when Harry Kane was about to take a penalty they were scuffing the spot.
“The penalty shootout as well, extra-time, coming back from when they scored late on, how we managed that as a team.
“I thought we did that perfectly and that was the game that stands out for me.”
