Transfer deadline day: Besiktas issue update on Domagoj Vida’s future

The Croation defender, who impressed the World Cup by helping his team to reach the final, attracted many top clubs’ attention as well as Arsenal. The north London club has been heavily linked with Vida and now Turkish side want to cash in to raise funds. Arsenal have held talks with Besiktas about a possible late move to bring the defender to the Emirates in a reported £20million fee. But as it was revealed, both Besiktas and Vida are not keen on the transfer. According to Aksam in Turkey, Vida has told the club that he "loves Istanbul" and does not want to leave. However, head of football transfers Umut Guner is reported as saying: "Besiktas loves you very much, but the conditions of the club are important." Reportedly, the club president Fikret Orman is in London in case the deal moves along quickly.
