Tottenham open negotiations with Bundesliga side over ace compared to Sergio Ramos

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho wants to sign a new centre-back as a replacement for Jan Vertonghen, who is likely to leave at the end of his contract. According to Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur (via The Spurs Web), Tottenham have opened negotiations with Schalke over a potential transfer for Ozan Kabak. Spurs have been linked to his teammate Weston McKennie but have now turned their attentions to the defender as well. Mourinho believes Kabak, who has been compared to Real Madrid ace Sergio Ramos in the past, would be a real improvement to his backline. The 20-year-old has played 26 games in the Bundesliga this season, scoring 3 goals, picking up 1 assist, making 1.4 tackles per game, averaging 1.4 interceptions, and completing a staggering 3.6 clearances on average (via WhoScored). However, his contract runs until 2024 and he is currently valued at £26m via Transfermarkt. Source: footballtransfertavern
