Tottenham head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has admitted that he has not been influenced by Daniel Levy’s wish for the team to play “free-flowing, attacking” football.
The Portuguese was appointed as Spurs boss in July after an exhaustive search for a new man in the hotseat after the sacking of Jose Mourinho back in April.
Tottenham are set to face Newcastle United on Sunday, October 14 once Premier League action resumes after the international break.
And ahead of the game head coach Nuno Espirito provided the latest injury updates and team news.
On Steven Bergwijn, Spurs boss said:
“He joined us yesterday. He is totally integrated with the group. Trained well yesterday, trained well today. No pain.
“So it’s about getting back to his highest levels of fitness, but he’s in the process of it.
“We don’t know, we don’t know, we don’t know (if Newcastle games is soon for him), because like I said, first of all we have to be everybody together, then we will assess and prepare and decide.”
Ben Davies was spotted in the team’s training session at Hotspur Way ahead of Tottenham’s trip to Newcastle United this weekend.
Spurs will now be hoping to capture another victory following their 2-1 win over Aston Villa in the previous game day.
