Tottenham intended to sign a new defender with £85m exit clause

Tottenham are tipped to sign Benfica centre-back Francisco Ferro due to an uncertain future of Jan Vertonbghen and Toby Alderweireld. Spurs reportedly were looking at Ferro over the summer as he scored an unbelievable long-range goal in Benfica’s Europa League match against Dinamo Zagreb. The 22-year-old signed a new four-year contract with Portuguese club in March, which has an enormous £85million exit clause. Reports claim that Tottenham are not worried about that clause and they start to look for replacements for their Belgian defenders. Ferro is famous for his technics and physical abilities and with his 6’3 height is someone that Mauricio Pochettino would like to add to his squad.
