Mercedes team principal and CEO Toto Wolff claims there is no rush to extend Lewis Hamilton’s contract with Mercedes. Earlier, Wolff extended his own stay at the Formula 1 team. Hamilton won his record-equalising seventh world championship this year, and his sixth with the Silver Arrows. The driver’s contract is due to expire at the end of 2020. "We are not worried about eventually getting it done,” said Wolff. “We are not putting a special date to it because we don't want to be under pressure. Sooner or later it needs to be done and at the latest before we go testing.” With testing ahead of the 2021 season not due to begin until March, talks over a new deal for Hamilton could run into the new year. "We had such a successful run of championships in the past seven years there is no reason not to continue,” Wolff added. “He is on the top of his game and will be for a while, and that's why continuing together is a no-brainer."
