The January transfer window is still open and there have already been several transfers. During the winter transfer window, Aston Villa welcomed Philippe Coutinho on loan, while Newcastle signed Kieran Trippier.
One of the most talked-about transfers so far was Ferran Torres’ move from Manchester City to Barcelona. The 21-year-old has yet to make his debut for Barca and has been handed number 19 after joining La Liga side.
So let’s take a look and see who are the top most expensive deals of the 2022 January transfer window.
Patterson joined Everton on a five-and-a-half-year deal from Rangers. Last season, the 20-year-old became Championship winner with Rangers. In the Championship winning season, Patterson made 14 appearances and scored 2 goals.
Jonathan Ikone joined Fiorentina from Lille during the winter transfer window. The right-winger has been with the Ligue 1 side since 2018. During the previous season, Ikone made 48 appearances in which he scored seven goals and provided 7 assists.
Kieran Trippier has made his return to Premier League after playing for Atletico Madrid since 2019. Before joining La Liga side, Trippier played for Manchester City, Barnsley, Burnley and Tottenham. During the previous season, the defender made overall 35 appearances for Atletico and provided 6 assists.
Ricardo Pepi has joined FC Augsburg from FC Dallas. The American striker has so far made just one appearance for the Bundesliga side. During the previous season, the 19-year-old made overall 31 appearances in MLS and scored 13 goals. After his move to the Bundesliga side, Pepi became the most expensive American MLS player to sign for a European club.
Vitaliy Mykolenko signed for Everton on January 1st from Dynamo Kyiv on a four-and-half-year deal. During the previous season, the defender made overall 36 appearances in which he scored 2 goals and provided 4 assists.
Lucas Digne signed a contract with Aston Villa on January 13 until the summer of 2026. So far this season, the defender made 15 appearances for Everton and scored one goal. Digne became Aston Villa’s second winter signing after they signed Coutinho on loan from Barcelona.
Chris Wood joined Newcastle from Burnley on January 13 and signed a contract until the summer of 2024. During this season the centre-forward made overall 21 appearances for Burnley in which he scored 3 goals.
Ferran Torres joined Barcelona from Manchester City during the January transfer window. The 21-year-old signed a deal until 2027 and has a release clause of €1 billion. During the previous season, the right-winger made 36 appearances for City. Torres scored 13 goals and provided 3 assists.
