TOP 5 transfers that never happened

There are always clubs running after players whom they could never sign. Here is the top 5 transfer list that never happened.

5.Robert Lewandowski to Blackburn Rovers.

Before becoming one of Europe’s best strikers, Robert Lewandowski was wanted by Blackburn in 2010 for  £4m.
But a volcanic ash cloud in Iceland prevented his flight from taking place and the move fell through. Blackburn can blame Mother Nature for that one.

4.Andriy Shevchenko to West Ham

In 1995 the Ukranian had the opportunity to join Premier League side West Ham. Why it didn't happen? "I was at West Ham and Frank Lampard Snr and I were approached by these two villains who said they were doing some business in the Ukraine, and we were so scared of them we agreed to have a look at a couple of these kids. One of them we played against Barnet Reserves and he scored the winner. They said they wanted a million quid for him, and Frank said it was too much - well I’m blaming Frank - and we let him go. His name was Andriy Shevchenko!"explained by then Hammers manager, Harry Redknapp.

3.Steven Gerrard to Chelsea

Steven Gerrard was very close to joining Chelsea on two separate occasions. First, with a £30m fee agreed, Gerrard did a U-turn after he and his family were subjected to a hate campaign which convinced him to stay. Secondly, in the summer after Liverpool’s Champions League triumph, Chelsea did not let up, and Gerrard said he was ready to leave the club, before having another change of heart.

2.Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Arsenal

At the age of 16, Zlatan was invited to Arsenal to check out the first team, facilities and was even given a shirt number. But when Arsene Wenger asked if he would undertake a trial, Ibrahimovic replied, in legendary fashion: “Zlatan doesn’t do auditions”. ზლატანის პირველი წითელი ბარათი

1.Cristiano Ronaldo to Arsenal

Ronaldo was invited to train with Arsenal back in 2003 and was so close to joining the Gunners that he had been given the No. 9 shirt. But the move didn't happen, and Wenger admitted in 2008 that it was down to Arsenal and Sporting Lisbon failing to agree a fee.
