Timo Werner removed from RB Leipzig's Champions League Squad to join Chelsea early

Timo Werner is prepared to skip the remainder of RB Leipzig's Champions League campaign in order to move to Chelsea as early as possible. The player will be removed from the club's European squad, according to Sports Bild. Frank Lampard’s side have agreed to activate the forward’s release clause after it initially appeared that the 24-year-old would be heading to Liverpool. The Leipzig ace has a clause of £53m. Werner wants to go to London in July and decided to skip RB Leipzig European fixtures. The Champions League quarter-finals begin on 12 August, in a condensed 12-day event in Lisbon. Werner has scored 31 times in 42 appearances in all competitions this season, including four goals in eight Champions League outings to help the German side into the quarter-finals for the first time in the club's short history.
