Stayed on nicely to win a small race at Sligo last month to underscore his suitability for this three-mile trip. This is tougher, but he’s far from handicapped out of the equation. Gavin Brouder also takes off a handy 7lb.
2.40 Taunton – IRISH PROPHECY
Odds: 11/4
Creeping up the weights, but there was much to like about his close second at Exeter last time. The winner has since franked the form by winning a Listed race last week. The prospect of good ground should also be considered a big positive.
3.35 Clonmel – WEIHNACHTS
Odds: 7/2
Desperately unfortunate at Ballinrobe in October when he clipped heels with a rival and fell at the fourth. Winless from six starts over fences, but he’s shown a decent level of form and will be suited by this step back up in trip. He looks a far better horse than his handicap mark might suggest.
