Benjamin Pavard is eager to leave Bayern Munich this summer and has set his sights on potential destinations, including three Premier League clubs, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea in addition to Barcelona, according to Christian Falk.
"Liverpool and Pavard. They talked with the agents but have never been concrete with the club and that’s also the positions of the other clubs. There aren’t many clubs which are of interest to Pavard. There was and is Barca, there’s Liverpool, Chelsea, then if City are on the table, City too,” wrote the journalist in his exclusive CaughtOffSide column.
As for now, Liverpool are the only club that has firmly established their interest in the Frenchman. Jurgen Klopp's side face a defensive dilemma this transfer window due to various factors, such as Trent Alexander-Arnold's new role and concerns over the reliability of Joel Matip and Joe Gomez. A defensive addition is a priority for the Reds, as they need both a long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk on the left side of the center-back position and reliable cover for Ibrahima Konate.
Despite reports suggesting interest in left-footed center-backs, the impression is that acquiring a right-sided center-back should be the main focus for Klopp if he remains committed to his tactical tweak. Additionally, the Reds face the pressing need to invest in the midfield following a disappointing performance from senior options during the 2022/23 campaign.
