Manchester United parted ways with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday after a heavy 4-1 defeat to Watford on Saturday.
The Red Devils had a difficult start to a season as they suffered several heavy defeats including the 5-0 defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford as well as a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City.
Michael Carrick will take charge of the team for upcoming games as the team looks for an interim coach,
Manchester United confirmed.
And with that said here are three candidates that the Red Devils could appoint as their head coach.
Zinedine Zidane

Zidane is currently not managing any team after he left Real Madrid last season. The 49-year-old has managed Real Madrid two times - from 2016 to 2018 and from 2019 to 2021.
As a manager at Real, Zidane has won the Champions League three times in a row, La Liga as well as Supercopa de Espana, FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA SueprCup.
Although Zidane has a managing career only in Spain, but he could be a good candidate for Manchester United as he has worked with both Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane at Real.
Mauricio Pochettino
Pochettino is currently a manager at PSG since 2021. Previously, the 49-year-old has managed Espanyol, Southampton and Tottenham.
As a manager at Spurs, Pochettino has been a runner-up for Carabao Cup, as well as Premier League and Champions League.
Erik ten Hag

Erik ten Hag is currently managing Ajax. He has been an Ajax manager since 2017. Besides Ajax, ten Hag has managed also Go Ahead Eagles, Bayern Munich 2, Utrecht.
As a manager, the 51-year-old has won the Eredivisie 2 times, KNVB Cup 2 times and Johan Cruyff Shield in 2019.
