Looking at Manchester City's goalkeepers' shirt numbers, it seems that none of them want to wear the No. 1 shirt.
When the Cityzens step onto the Wembley pitch this Sunday, they'll be sporting their fresh kits. The official Man City website has just unveiled the updated squad numbers, shedding light on some intriguing choices.
Among these, Mateo Kovacic, the new signing, will proudly sport the No.8 jersey. Familiar numbers from the previous season will be retained by several stars, with Erling Haaland sticking to the No.9.
Interestingly, the defender Joshua Wilson-Esbrand has opted for the highest numbered shirt, which is the No.97. However, the most notable twist lies within the realm of City's goalkeeping cohort.
Usually, a club's primary goalkeeper would wear the No.1 jersey. Yet, it's a departure from the norm for Ederson, who's taken No.31. Equally unconventional are the choices of Scott Carson (No.33) and Stefan Ortega Moreno (No.18), both of whom have also refrained from embracing the iconic No.1 label.
