Liverpool fans have slammed John Aldridge’s comments on Emre Can.
The Germany international moved from the Reds to Juventus in the summer of 2018. He has made just 45 appearances, scoring 4 goals and providing a single assist for the Serie A side.
Now the 26-year-old plays on loan for Bundeliga club Borussia Dortmund. They have an obligation to buy the midfielder for €25m (£21m) if certain conditions are met.
John Aldridge thinks Can made the wrong decision to depart from Liverpool.
He told The Liverpool Echo: “To be honest I always felt was punching above his weight at Liverpool but he thought he could do better by moving on and it hasn’t worked out for him at Juventus. He scored a fine goal on his debut for Borussia Dortmund at the weekend but the fact he’s had to go back to Germany to try and salvage his career says a lot and is a warning to others that you walk away from Liverpool at your peril.”
And Liverpool fans have reacted to the comments on Twitter.
yes we’re doing really well right now, but no need to act like the world revolves around liverpool♂️

This is just disgraceful tbh, Can respected his contract, played it out and looked for something new at the end of the season, what’s wrong with that? https://t.co/qlfCBravVj

Emre Can respected his contract and left for another club in a respectable way yet he gets more hate than Raheem Sterling does by ex players https://t.co/upnDARiGYX
