Steven Gerrard will make return to Anfield

Steven Gerrard has been announced as the new head coach of Aston Villa. The legendary Liverpool midfielder had been managing Scottish side Rangers for the past three years. Gerrard led the ‘Gers to the Scottish Premiership title last term – ending Celtic’s nine-year stranglehold. However, on Thursday it was announced that he moves to Villa Park to replace Dean Smith, following his sacking last weekend. This means that Gerrard will make his return to Anfield, but as an opponent's manager. That day is not so far away. In exactly one month, December 11, Liverpool will be hosting Aston Villa. Liverpool fans will undoubtedly wait for that moment, as they will have an opportunity to see their legend for the first time since he left the club back in 2015 to join LA Galaxy in the MLS. Gerrard was a Reds' academy graduate and since 1998 he was playing for their senior side. He played 710 games, scored 186 goals and provided 150 assists. With Liverpool Gerrard won 2 FA Cups, 3 Carabao Cups, 2 UEFA Supercups, a Champions League and a European League trophies. So surely his return to Anfield would be one of the most highly-anticipated events of the current Premier League season. Join us on Telegram!/ Follow us on Twitter!
