Steve Kerr reacts to Ty Lue being fired by Cavaliers

Steve Kerr coached against Ty Lue in three consecutive NBA Finals, but there won't be a fourth straight match-up between the two in June, as Lue was relieved of his duties by the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday. “Nothing really surprises me anymore. I did feel bad for Ty,” Kerr said, via the Mercury News. “Ty’s a great coach. As coaches, we all know. But Ty’s a great coach, and I’m sure if he wants to get back in the league, he’ll be able to do that. Ty’s done a hell of a job.” “We’re completely reliant on our talent. If you’ve got talented players, then you have a chance,” Kerr said. “When LeBron left, he left Ty with a very difficult situation. I think it surprised everybody how quickly it manifested itself. But it’s the NBA. It feels like stuff like this happens every year.” Kerr seems confident that Lue will get another opportunity on the sideline with a different team if he is interested. “He’s good. He knows what he’s doing, and he’s well-prepared every night,” Kerr said of Lue. “If he wants another shot, he’ll get one. But it’s always sad when you see a fellow coach get the axe like that this early in the season.”
