Steve Bruce names the Newcastle United player who has improved his team

Steve Bruce believes Dwight Gayle has improved his Newcastle United side. Gayle has been sidelined since July with a knee injury but has made three substitute appearances over the past week. The striker is in line to start for Newcastle in their Carabao Cup tie against Brentford. Gayle is in Steve Bruce’s thoughts ahead of Tuesday night’s quarter-final after coming off the bench in last night’s 1-1 Premier League draw against Fulham. “I’ve just got to make sure that he’s right, because he got injured back in July, and we’re just making sure that he’s right, of course,” said United's head coach. “He’s had a good week in terms of coming on. "He’s made us better, that’s for sure. He’s in our thoughts, of course he is. He did really well the back end of last year, but I’ve just got to make sure he’s right, physically-wise. He’s had a good week in that respect.”
