Star filly Love goes for glory in Yorkshire Oaks

Classic-winning filly Love faces five rivals in the Darley Yorkshire Oaks at York on Thursday. Aidan O’Brien’s star daughter of Galileo has already had an outstanding campaign, having already won the Investec Oaks and the 1000 Guineas. Now she bids for a third consecutive Group One in this mile-and-a-half teston the Knavesmire. With Enable not involved, John Gosden instead relies upon Frankly Darling and Franconia. The former won the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot but was no match for Love at Epsom. Franconia steps up to the highest level for the first time having won back-to-back Listed races – the last of which at this track in July. The hat-trick-seeking Manuela De Vega has also been declared by Ralph Beckett, while One Voice represents Irish trainer Jessica Harrington. Alpinista, who won well at Salisbury earlier this month, completes the line-up for Newmarket handler Sir Mark Prescott.
