Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fears for his job after the club were only able to land two signings instead of four he wants.
According to the Mirror, the Norwegian handed chief executive Ed Woodward a list of player he wished for but only one permanent deal has left the first-team squad.
They signed Bruno Fernandes and bring on Odion Ighalo on a six-month loan.
The failed deals have left Solskjaer concerned the club are starting to lose faith in him by not investing in the players he is after.
Woodward has privately insisted he is happy to axe Solskjaer if needed in future despite his legendary status at the club, with former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino and ex-Juventus chief Massimiliano Allegri both interested.
