Shirt numbers Ibrahima Konate could wear at Liverpool as the transfer is set to be completed soon

Liverpool will complete the signing of Ibrahima Konaté from RB Leipzig, according to transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano. Konate will join the Reds soon, as personal terms agreed from April. The player is set to sign a deal until June 2026. But which number will be his at Anfield? Konate has donned the No.6 jersey for Leipzig since the 2017/18 season and also wears it for France Under-21, but this shirt is occupied by Thiago at Liverpool, who still has three years left on his contract. Liverpool's No.2 jersey has been vacant since Nathaniel Clyne departed Anfield last summer. Trent Alexander-Arnold has shown little desire to switch from No.66 so far. No.5 will be vacant as Gini Wijnaldum, who has worn it since joining the club in 2016, is set to leave Liverpool as he is out of contract this summer. Liverpool's No.16 shirt was last worn by Marko Grujic, who joined in 2016 but has only managed 16 appearances for the Reds. The midfielder is currently on loan at Porto and wears No.16 for the Portuguese side, so he may not be pleased to return to Merseyside to find his favoured number as been reassigned. Other available numbers are No. 18, which belonged to Takumi Minamino who will return to the club after his loan spell at Southampton. While No.19 will become available if the Reds choose not to make their loan move for Ozan Kabak into a permanent transfer. Nos.22, 24, 25, 29 and 30 are available, but Konate may favour the No.31 or No.33 jerseys.
