‘A shame’: Bayern Munich CEO reveals Sadio Mane could have NOT been a Liverpool player

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has revealed they wanted to sign Sadio Mane in 2012, but Senegalese slipped into their fingers and instead completed a move to Red Bull Salzburg. 27-year-old Mane keeps on impressing with his achievements at the Merseyside club as he is now among the players nominated for Ballon d’Or 2019. Before moving to Liverpool, Mane had two seasons with Red Bull Salzburg before completing a move to Southampton where he had two seasons and 20+ scored goals in all competitions.  All these could have not happened if Bayern signed Senegal national team star back in 2012.  “We had an interest in Mane, but somehow it didn’t work out. He then went to Southampton and later Liverpool. A shame.” Rummenigge told Bild (via Goal). Mane has scored 8 goals and provided 2 assists in 14 Premier League matches of this season.  Liverpool are preparing to face Everton at Anfield Road after beating Brighton and staying eight points clear over Leicester City.
