Seven Newcastle players could miss Burnley trip

Newcastle United suffer injury crises, as seven players could miss a trip to Burnley on Saturday. French winger Allan Saint-Maximin suffered a hamstring injury in the 2-1 defeat to Southampton just 48 hours after playing through the pain barrier with a separate ankle issue. The Winger ruled out for the entire Christmas period. On his injury, Newcastle boss Steve Bruce said: “He pulled his hamstring doing 38.6km per hour in the 96th minute! I don't think anybody has run that fast in the Premier League before. What can you do in the 96th minute? A footballer can play or train every day but can't play with that intensity. There was no sign of Allan being fatigued. On Sunday we put him up the top end of the pitch alongside Andy Carroll. We kick ourselves but these things happen.” Miguel Almiron will also miss the clash, as he has a hamstring injury. Jonjo Shelvey, meanwhile, has a sore calf. On Shelvey, Bruce said: “Shelvey has a sore calf, Almiron's hamstring is a bit tight. We will see how they are today. We will make a judgement call after training. With muscle injuries, you can't take a risk. If they pull up and they are out for six weeks we will all look stupid." The calf problem hit also Ciaran Clark, while Ki Sun-Yueng has a knock. Jamaal Lascelles, who suffered an injury in November ruled out until New Year. Matt Ritchie, 30, meanwhile, suffered injury in September and remains out. Newcastle United are in the 11th place of Premier League table with 22 points, while their rival Burnley are in the 13th place with 18 points. The game between the two clubs will take place on Saturday, December 14. Source- geordiebootboys, chroniclelive
