Serie A 2019/20 season could be cancelled today as the Serie A chiefs will hold talks on Monday.
Head of the Italian player's association (AIC), Damiano Tommasi has stated that the coronavirus pandemic may cause an early end to the season.
Football in Italy are currently suspended. With 97,689 confirmed cases, Italy appears to have the highest death rate on the planet at 10.779.
The ex-Roma midfielder told ANSA: "
There’s concern that the season will end here. It’s, therefore, necessary to tackle the problem of ending the season from a sporting point of view and a contractual one."
Three ways are being considered to finish the campaign, including using a play-off system to determine the champions, European qualifiers and relegation spaces. Both naming current leaders Juventus as winners and not naming a champion are also under consideration.
