Sam Allardyce rates Matteo Guendouzi’a displays at Arsenal

Former England boss Sam Allardyce was full of praise for the young Gunners midfielder on Thursday night as he believes Guendouzi is “one of the finds of the season”. The 19-year-old cost Arsenal just £7m when he arrived from Ligue 2 side Lorient and has impressed hugely as Unai Emery has immediately thrown him into the first team. Speaking on Sky Sports as part of their transfer deadline day coverage, former Arsenal striker Alan Smith cited the youngster as an example of the type of player brought in by the outgoing Sven Mislintat. “There seems to be a bit of a power grab behind the scenes with Sven Mislintat moving out of the club,” he said. “He brought in some good players in Guendouzi and [Lucas] Torreira. "And so until that settles down, you're not going to get a policy where everyone's singing off the same hymn sheet.” To which Allardyce added: “I think Guendouzi's one of the finds of the season.” “He brought in some good players in Guendouzi and [Lucas] Torreira.
