Chelsea star Ruben Loftus-Cheek has moved one step closer to returning to competitive football.
The player played 60 minutes in a behind-closed-doors match at Cobham on Tuesday.
Chelsea’s development squad used a match against Brentford B to measure the progress of Loftus-Cheek and it was his first game in nine months.
Loftus-Cheek suffered rupturing Achilles tendon in his left leg during a post-season friendly against the New England Revolution last May.
The player started the game and was substituted after an hour, displaying no ill effects, according to The Athletic.
