Roman Abramovich is told what he should do regarding Frank Lampard's future as Chelsea manager

Arsenal legend Alan Smith has urged Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich to show patience regarding Frank Lampard's uncertain job as Blues manager. Lampard is under huge pressure following a disappointing start to the season for Chelsea despite spending more than £200million across the course of the summer. Abramovich is yet to make a decision and Smith has urged Chelsea to remain patient. "The big question, of course, is whether Roman Abramovich is prepared to wait for Lampard," Smith told the Evening Standard ahead of Chelsea's FA Cup clash with Luton Town. "This is actually an interesting situation for Chelsea’s owner. Does he grant more time than normal to a club legend or does he wield the axe in the same ruthless way? "Does he, for that matter, take any notice of events at Arsenal and Manchester United, where Mikel Arteta and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have come through sticky patches in what is the strangest of seasons? If ever patience were needed in SW6, this might be the year." Meanwhile, according to the Independent Abramovich has already made one big decision as he will not appoint an interim boss to take charge for the remainder of the season. If Lampard was to be sacked the search would begin for an immediate replacement. RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann, Thomas Tuchel, axed by Paris Saint-Germain last year and former Juventus boss Max Allegri is not under consideration are among the candidates who could replace the current Chelsea boss.
