Roger Federer reveals how he really feels ahead of Swiss Indoors opener

Roger Federer, 37, who has 98 career titles to his name, has made a frank admission about playing at the Swiss Indoors. “It's always good having qualified way before the Race heats up, after the US Open,” Federer said. “Because [if you haven't], then you're really thinking about rankings, you're thinking about the struggle, having to qualify, having to produce results under pressure, not that we're not used to that, but it's just different because normally we can just go play tennis. “So for me... I can go out there, enjoy myself, play my best, enjoy the indoor tour. I love the indoor tournaments, I usually always play very well in those. Of course, it's a huge goal of mine, the London [Nitto ATP Finals]. It's one of those events you want to compete in, the ones you want to win.” Despite having a hand problem, Federer insists he wants a strong finish to the year. He added: “I see no changes to my game. But I have sometimes been surprised by my opponents in Shanghai. I cannot explain it to myself. Today I no longer have any health problems. It was different in recent months since I injured my hand during the grass season. It took three months to heal. Being injured on the wrist or hand, it always takes time to heal. It gave me a bad feeling. That's why I'm happy that everything is fine now.”
