Roger Federer hits out at disappointing Italian Open decision

Roger Federer has criticised the Italian Open after the tournament opted to double its ticket prices for his first session back in Rome for three years. The Swiss decided to take up the opportunity to hey more practice on the red dirt before Roland Garros, after his Madrid Open campaign was cut short. The Italian Open responded by doubling the prices of tickets from around €60 (£52) to €132 (£114) for Wednesday. Federer was asked about the decision on Tuesday and said: “Disappointing. They made it in a way like they rewarded the fans who bought tickets earlier? Which is sort of strange, but okay. I just really hope it doesn’t take away the fact I’m really happy to be here.”
