Manchester City midfielder has spoken about his new role at the club after the transfer from Atletico Madrid.
The 23-year-old was signed by the Citizens for £63million during the summer transfer window and had an impressive start in the Premier League.
Rodri said his new role at City differs from the one he had at Atletico Madrid
He told El País:“A player has to go through stages. In all the teams I’ve been going through I felt it was the place I had to be. Now at City, I have a totally different role. I have never had such an important role in such a key position in that team as the midfielder. It is different from everything I’ve found. For me, it is a personal and professional challenge.”
The Spain international is thankful to Guardiola for encouraging him to play in a new way as it helped him to become a key member of the City.
“[Guardiola] instilled in me the desire to learn, to understand the game he was proposing and to fully immerse myself in the dynamics of a team that has been winning,” he added.
