Riyad Mahrez has claimed Manchester City’s players are relishing their chase for a treble as they look to build on a Carabao Cup victory and Champions League semi-final first leg win over Paris Saint-Germain.
Mahrez played a huge part in the Cityzens’ 2-1 win over the Parisian side yesterday, as he netted the winner from a free-kick.
And reflecting on his winning goal the winger admitted it was slightly fortunate while attributing some credit to substitute Benjamin Mendy, who had predicted Mahrez’s goal the previous day.
He revealed: “I wanted to go around the wall to be honest, and I missed it but it went between the two players. Fortunately it was in and we were so happy because we knew we could win here, to score the 2-1 for the team was amazing.
“Yes it’s because of Ben [Mendy], he asked God, and God gave me this goal.”
