Rio Ferdinand fells for Harry Kane, as the striker is trying to force Tottenham's hand to earn himself a move to Manchester City this summer.
The 28-year-old missed training last week despite being expected back at the club, before releasing a statement insisting that he was only ever due back this past weekend and hadn't skipped any sessions, contrary to the reports.
And former Manchester United defender Ferdinand believes the striker is just trying to force chairman Daniel Levy's hand in negotiations.
"[Paul] Pogba would have been drilled left, right and centre by all parts of the media," he said while speaking on his YouTube channel ' Vibe with Five '.
"But at the same time I just feel in this situation clarity is what's missing. Even after Harry's statement that he put out, you're still none the wiser as to what happened. Was he meant to come in or wasn't he?
"The club didn't come out and say nothing. For me it looks like Harry had a date that he was meant to be back and that was set in stone, and I think he's kept to that. I don't think he's gone over, reading between the lines and this is all hypothetical and assumptions we're making here, none of this is concrete, but the way I've read this situation the date in the sand Harry's come back on that date and that's fine.
"Is there a fee, a gentleman's agreement, that needs to be met by a particular club that want Harry before a deal can be struck? I don't know man."
