REVEALED: Unai Emery ordered Arsenal to sell one of their first team players following Europa League final defeat

Unai Emery told Arsenal’s hierarchy to sell Shkodran Mustafi after his side’s defeat to Chelsea in the Europa League final. Signed in 2016, the 27-year-old has made over 100 appearances for Arsenal however he's never really won over the Gunners' faithful. A number of high profile errors, combined with a tendency to lack concentration, has seen Mustafi come in for criticism of late leaving many to question whether he's capable of leading Arsenal's defence as they aim to break back into the Premier League's top four. Emery defended Mustafi throughout the season and even urged Arsenal supporters to tone down their criticism of the Germany international. But according to the BBC, Emery’s stance over Mustafi drastically changed after his side’s loss in the Europa League. The defender cost around £35million when he arrived at the Emirates Stadium in 2016, and it's likely that Arsenal would look to recoup the majority of that fee if they were to sell.
