Matteo Guendouzi, who joined Arsenal from French side Lorient, has already managed to make an impact at his new club.
Once he gets more Premier League experience under his belt, Guendouzi will get better.
Despite Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund were also interested in his services.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with the
Independent, Lorient president Loic Fery opened up on the Gunners' quest to sign the talented midfielder.
"Arsenal contacted us and it was very clear immediately he was a player they wanted to sign," said Fery.
"Once we had those clubs starting to be interested, we asked him where he wanted to go.
"He told me that Arsenal was his preference.
"He wanted to play in the Premier League and Arsenal would be great for him."
"We definitely felt Arsenal would be a very good match for him."
