REVEALED: How much will Frank Lampard earn as club’s new manager

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has become the main candidate to become the club’s new boss after Maurizio Sarri’s departure. Sarri has guided the Blues to the Europa League title and third place in the Premier League after joining Chelsea one year ago. The Italian is expected to take over at Juventus after Maurizio Sarri left the club. But how much Chelsea are eager to pay to the new coach? Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich would have to pay Derby £4m in compensation for Lampard. When he agreed to move to London last summer, reports in Italy suggested departing boss Sarri’s salary was more than £5m. Lampard is likely to expect similar recompense should he enter negotiations to take over at a club where he became a hero during a 13-year stay. He was unlucky not to make a winning return to Stamford Bridge when his Derby team scored twice in the opening half-hour during a thrilling Carabao Cup match last season. Asked whether he had ambitions to coach Chelsea, Lampard told Sky: “If I was good enough, it was right, they wanted me and it was at the right time. “Whether you’re a Chelsea man or not, Chelsea’s one of the pinnacle jobs in football. They’re one of the top clubs in Europa and the world now - and in England with what they’ve done there in the last 15 years. “I don’t want to throw myself in and say, ‘I’m the next Chelsea boss’ because it might be a different route for me. But of course, the dream would be to manage Chelsea one day.”
