REPORTS: Chelsea open talks with Napoli over the Belgian striker

According to what has been reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea have opened talks with Napoli over Dries Mertens. Initially, PSG’s Edinson Cavani was the top target for Frank Lampard, however, Uruguayan international has expressed a desire to join Atletico Madrid.  With Cavani’s deal off, Chelsea are now concentrated on 32-year-old Mertens, who can play as a center forward or a winger.  In 2016/17 season, Belgian international scored incredible 28 goals playing as a center forward.

Mertens’s contract will expire in summer and Napoli are hoping to earn some money from the move now.  Chelsea could pay only £6 m for the player.  Follow the latest Chelsea news on Vbetnews
