Celtic FC are in pole position to sign Ecuador Under-20 national team midfielder Jose Cifuentes, as reported by The Scotsman. 

Cifuentes has also been linked with Manchester City, however, the latest news suggest that he would join Neil Lennon’s side. 

The main reason why America de Quito’s 20-year-old youngster can’t join Manchester City is that he is not a full time international. 

The rules in Scotland are more relaxed compared to England which became the most important factor for Celtic to win the race.
