Rangers legend sends message to Gers stars ahead of 'hugely telling' week

Rangers legend Derek Johnstone says that the Gers "need to produce the best performances since Steven Gerrard was appointed" if they are to qualify for the Europa League quarter finals. Steven Gerrard's side are preparing to host Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League round of 16 first leg on Thursday, March 12. “Leverkusen are a better side than Braga and Rangers will need to produce the best performances since Steven was appointed if they are to progress in this tie. It is going to be very, very difficult,” Johnstone said, as quoted by the Glasgow Times. “But they are capable of raising their game to that level and of getting a result on Thursday night and what a lift that would give everyone going into the Old Firm game. “Rangers may have lost their chances of silverware this season, but they certainly still have points to prove and plenty to play for between now and the end of the campaign. The next week will be hugely significant and hugely telling for everyone at Ibrox.” And after their Europa League game, Rangers are preparing to host Celtic in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday, March 15. source - rangersnews.uk
