Rafael Nadal voices Novak Djokovic frustration as Roger Federer calls meeting

Rafael Nadal is frustrated the players’ council, which is chaired by Novak Djokovic, have not contacted him in regards to the proposed player revolt. A leaked email has called on players ranked between 50 to 100 to join forces to oust ATP Tour chief Chris Kermode. Roger Federer was quizzed on the situation and said he was planning to sit down with Nadal, Djokovic and Andy Murray to discuss the topic. “I was going to speak to some of the council members. I’m practising with one of them this afternoon, Robin Haase,” Federer said. “I would like to hear a little bit from him how the council meeting went, where their general feeling is about leadership in the ATP. We’ve had a good five, six years now under Chris’ leadership. Obviously, it’s an important role. We need to look at it very thoroughly. I need to speak with Novak, Rafa, and Andy a little bit just to get their take on it all.” However, Nadal feels it shout be up to the players’ council to try and sort the situation out, not the player themselves. “I don't have to go. [Djokovic’s] in the council or all the players are on the council; they have to come to me,” Nadal said. “That's why they are in the council and I am not in the council anymore. When I was in the council, that was me I have to go to the players and ask their opinions. It's not my work anymore. By the way, if they want to read my opinion, I tell you, I think I believe in the projects at long-term, not short-term, as everybody knows in my life. And because of that, I believe that is not good to have changed all the time, because is difficult to develop a good project of work if we have changed every three, four years. Is difficult. So I don't know. I believe that Chris probably did some good work out there, and I don't see him doing negative things or enough negative things to not continue in the position. “That today probably he knows all the situation of the world of tennis better than a new person that should come and will lose a period of time knowing all the things, how it's going, how the things are going, no?”
