Rafael Nadal spat with Novak Djokovic prompts Wimbledon rule change for 2019

Wimbledon semi-final contest between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic will leave a further legacy after it forced a rule change at the All England Club. Djokovic triumphed in a two-day battle on Centre Court, returning to court to finish the job on Saturday-delaying the women’s final in the process-after play was brought to a halt on Friday night due to the enforced curfew at The Championship. The tie continued indoors as rules required both players to agree to open the roof upon the continuation of play. Djokovic expressed his desire for the roof to stay on. Nadal who went on to lose the match grumbled:” You decide if that’s fair or it’s not. To gain time we started indoor, and that’s it. I don’t think it’s right, but it’s just my opinion. However, from this year there will be no consultation with the players and weather alone will dictate whether or not the rood is open or closed.
