Rafa Benitez to return Newcastle United? Liam Kennedy gives an update

Shield Gazette's Newcastle United writer Liam Kennedy has been speaking on the latest edition of NUFC Matters with Steve Wraith about all the topics related to the club. One of the main things they were discussed was the Toon's proposed takeover by PCP Capital Partners, PIF and the Reuben brothers. Since the deal was initially withdrawn legal proceedings against the Premier League have started and are still ongoing as Mike Ashley looks for a way to force the takeover through. Kennedy was asked if the takeover went through could he see Rafael Benitez returning to be the manager of Newcastle and he provided a positive response. He said: “I think Rafa Benitez is absolutely in the box-seat to be Newcastle United manager in the not-too-distant future – if the takeover gets the green light.” Moreover, Kennedy added, that Steve Bruce is safe in his job, for now, but the club’s hierarchy are concerned by the worsening situation and its possible implications for the bigger picture at United.
